MDC MEETINGS RESTART WITH MILK MARKET SESSION

IT’S THAT TIME of year once again and the 2001 series of MDC (Milk Development Council) meetings will kick off next week with a discussion on ‘Managing & Maximising the Milk Market.’

This free session will be the first MDC regional meeting in the West Midlands since the outbreak of Foot & Mouth Disease and three prominent speakers have been brought together to look at the future of the milk market and help you make informed business decisions.

Barry Wilson, of the Dairy Industry Newsletter, Andrew Ovens of the Dairy Council and Ken Boyns of MDC, will all be speaking at the meeting on November 27.

Mr Boyns will be talking about ‘Datum’ a newly launched information service for dairy farmers. He will demonstrate the system and teach delegates how to access the system, at www.mdcdatum.org.uk, and use it to the best advantage of their business.

Mr Ovens has been responsible for the management and implementation of the “White Stuff” campaign. His presentation will look at the performance of the campaign so far and its effect upon the milk market.

Finally, Mr Wilson will draw upon his experiences within the international milk industry to discuss the success and failure of initiatives that have been used in other countries around the world to maximise the value of milk to dairy farmers.

‘Managing & Maximising the Milk Market’ takes place in the Queen Mother Hall at Harper Adams between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday, November 27, 2001. The event, including refreshments and lunch, is free of charge and open to all.
